Each journey is timed to nature's most spectacular moments — from calving to crossing, we position you at the heart of it all. Beyond the migration we also run 4x4, motorcycle, walking and camping safaris — and Mount Kilimanjaro climbs. Most trips below run as both a 7-day package and a longer 11-day package — the shorter price is what we lead with, and the full-length departure is listed underneath it. Dates and durations can also be tailored for a private safari, from a recommended minimum of two to four guests; the smaller the group, the higher the per-person cost.

The Great Migration

Following the
Herd, All Year

A vast herd of up to two million wildebeest and zebra marches in one continuous 1,000km loop — from Tanzania's Southern Serengeti north into the Central and Western Serengeti, across the chaotic Mara River and into Kenya's Masai Mara, and back again. Every Miguu expedition is timed to meet them at the right place, at the right moment.

Jan – Mar
Ndutu · Southern Serengeti
Calving season — the great herd gathers and 300,000+ calves are born. By March they begin marching north-west to the Central and Western Serengeti.

Apr – May
Central Serengeti
Through the green season the herds drift north-west, reaching and crossing the Grumeti by mid-June.

June
Grumeti River Crossing · West Serengeti
The herd reaches the first of the crocodile-filled rivers — in one of the least-explored corners of the Serengeti — and begins crossing in mid-June.

Jul – Aug / Sep / Oct
Mara River · Northern Serengeti
Pushing north, they finally arrive at the iconic Mara River in Tanzania. The crossing is dangerous — crocodiles and predators feast.

Sep – Dec
Masai Mara · Kenya & the return
After the Mara River, the herds march 10km across the border into Kenya — with one more river to cross. With the November short rains they turn south, back into the Serengeti and to Ndutu by December.

Our Story

Born from Friendship,
Rooted in the Wild

Miguu means "feet" in Swahili — because every journey begins with your feet, the moment they touch the earth. There's a second meaning we love just as much: when Charles proposed the name we agreed in an instant — in Cebuano, Migu means friend, short for Amigo. It just clicked. With Miguu, you journey with friends, old and new.

In 2023, Tanzanian safari expert Charles Mpanda and master safari guide and photographer Michael Shotii joined Filipino adventurers Dondi & Corinne Joseph to turn a chance meeting on the Serengeti into something extraordinary — four founders, one shared love of the wild.

It started as a brainstorm over bush lunch, under a lone acacia tree in the southern Serengeti.

Today we curate safaris that go beyond travel — connecting people to wildlife, culture, and purpose, while supporting local communities across Tanzania.
